A couple of weeks ago I told you all about the Dear Hannah event I attended in Hoboken, NJ. What I failed to mention was that I was the winner of a makeover raffle being hosted at the event. I never win anything, and the fact that it was a makeover just made the win all that better. Who doesn’t love a good makeover? It’s so much fun to see a transformation take place and I’m going to share mine with you.
My day started at the Dear Hannah store. As part of the giveaway, store owner, Hannah had a $100 gift card for me. Not only was I getting an entire outfit, but I’d also be getting a styling session with the talented stylist, Kyrzayda Rodriguez! Dana Prigge (who put together the entire day for me) and Kyrzayda were already waiting for me at the store and got to work instantly. I had an event to attend that night and told her I wanted an outfit that was out of my comfort zone. Normally, I go for form fitting items, but that night I wanted something totally different. Kyrzayda pulled multiple options and the black and white dress seen above was the winner.
Kyrzyda pointed out how important is it to shop for items that you’ll be able to wear multiple times and in completely different ways. For Fall I could style the dress we chose with with an oversized cardigan and booties. For meetings I could throw on a blazer and use colors like yellow and red to make it pop. She opened up my eyes to so many possibilities in a single dress and that’s what makes a great stylist. Along with the dress, Kyrzayda picked a purple and orange necklace as the statement piece for the outfit and a light pink clutch. These accessories are items I could also continue wearing and styling in different ways.
Next stop was Xquisite Color & Cuts hair salon (also located in Hoboken, NJ). There, makeup artist, Caroline Burns awaited and got started on my makeup. Caroline did a beautiful job on the makeup, giving me gold eyes and lashes that made them pop even more. Also, the products she used smelled amazing. Salon owner, Milton Amarant, told me all about his salon and showed me around the beautiful space. After the makeup was complete I consulted with Milton and hair stylist Carol Rojas on the look I’d be getting for my hair. After lightening my hair myself several times, I wanted Carol to color correct and darken the hair up. Carol mixed up a color for me, added a gloss that has given me incredible shine and styled it beautifully.
When the whole look was put together – hair, makeup and outfit – I was blown away. I looked so different and chic. Dana called it a ‘Fashion Week’ ready look and I couldn’t agree more. A million thanks to everyone involved in this makeover day – I had so much fun. To follow and learn more about my glam squad check the links below:
