Reality TV star turned fashion designer and blogger Lauren Conrad has released her Spring 2013 collection for Paper Crown, her ultimate design collection. Described by Lauren as, “A modern take on classic style, with an emphasis on fit and fabric quality to create staples for the contemporary women’s closet.”, one would expect to find ultra-romantic looks, chic, sophisticated ensembles and simple yet elegant pieces. And yes, Lauren does execute this beautifully, as soon as her collection debuted in 2011 – however, Spring 2013′s collections combined elements of surprise, as well. Below are top picks from her latest collection:
What is this look? The Dartmouth Dress in Peach Lace
Why do we love it? The fitted bodice combined with a peach lace color sets the tone for an ultra-romantic look. The look above features a nude heel for a more conservative look – but add a pop of color with a jewel-toned heel, for an on-trend color palette.
What is this look? Providence Top in Bisque/Netting Skirt in Coral
Why do we love it? Another one of LC’s most romantic, simple and relaxed look. The nude top is balanced out by the skirt’s unconventional length, as maxi-skirts and skirts above the knee are on-trend this season. Additionally, the coral color is bright, but not too much that it takes away from the ethereal feel of the ensemble.
What is this look? Buoy Top in Triangles/Serena Legging in Black
Why do we love it? From the top’s sheerness to the shoulder cut-outs and black leggings, this look is the perfect combination of femininity and boldness. The volume of this top exudes romance while the fitted metallic leggings exudes anything but. For a sophisticated look, pair this outfit with nude, pointy pumps. For a more daring look, cobalt blue wedges exude a rocker-chic feel.
What is this look? Jamestown Top in Peach Lace/Jib Shorts in Jib/Tan Tweed
Why do we love it? The combination of lace and tweed caught our eye, at very first glance. When wearing two pieces of clothing, the general rule of thumb is never to mix fabrics – however, styling this lace top with tweed shorts works well, if not for its neutral color combinations and the simplicity of the whole ensemble. Minimal accessories and neutral colors are key to mixing fabrics, especially hard-to-pull-off lace and tweed.
